Farouk Coffee in Bahri is one of the most famous and oldest coffee shops that narrates the heritage and history of Alexandria. Its historical age is more than 90 years, as it was established in 1928. The café was established in 1928 under a Greek name, Calimera, which means good morning in Greek. After the enthronement of King Farouk as King of Egypt and during the passage of his motorcade, a blonde Greek girl with foreign features called “Mary Pianotti” went and intercepted the procession desiring to greet the King.
